About | Poway Recovery Center

Our vision

Compassionately serving those who are suffering from substance use and other dependency disorders.

Our mission

To facilitate recovery within the community through education, social interaction and fellowship, with resources for alcohol, drug and mental health dependency.

Our history

1983 Founded as the Poway Alano Club by 25 members of Alcoholics Anonymous, in a small room on Garden Road.
1984 Moved to a larger facility on Pomerado Road.
1986 Incorporated as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit.
2016 Lost the Pomerado Road lease after 30 years, and many groups had to find new places to meet.
2018 Moved to 13939/13941 Poway Road, where members donated their time and resources to build and renovate the space.
2020–2021 Held mostly virtual meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic, then became a nonprofit eligible for grants and other outside funding.
2023 In February, the Poway Alano Club dissolved to make way for the Poway Recovery Center, which welcomes all types of recovery and offers a broad range of support groups and resources.
